Debbie Vereb is President and Chief Operating Office for illuma Care Connections. As the company’s leader, she is responsible for driving the corporate strategy, nurturing a positive company culture, managing investor relations, and cultivating strategic partnerships.
Before joining illuma, Debbie led the day-to-day business operations for SPH Analytics, a healthcare technology organization, as the Executive Vice President of Operations. In this role, she developed operational efficiencies throughout several newly acquired and previously disparate organizations, designing cohesive processes for long-term profitability and growth.
Debbie also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at The Myers Group, a healthcare engagement and analytics firm, where she led the company in achieving year-over-year double-digit growth for more than 10 years, the acquisition of more than 30% market share, and over 95% year-over-year client retention and satisfaction.
Debbie has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience and has remained in the forefront of healthcare’s complex regulations and advancing methodologies. Her expertise spans healthcare technology, patient experience, clinical analytics, population health, CMS and NCQA regulations. Throughout her career, Debbie has built a reputation for developing exceptional employee relationships and a positive corporate culture. She has a passion for excellence and is driven by an intense client focus which has resulted in exponential revenue growth and expanded market shares.
Debbie received her education at Kennesaw State College. She is a member of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Atlanta Chapter (HBA) and the Women Business Leaders of the US Healthcare Foundation (WBL). Debbie has been honored with the Atlanta Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association LEAD award and was also awarded the 2017 Business Woman in Excellence by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
Founder/Chairman of the Board
Stephen Kendig is the Founder and Chairman of the Board for illuma Care Connections. He built illuma with the initial acquisition of the technology and IP from a public company, and led its growth for several years, building a world class team and loyal customers. Stephen secured proper capitalization for the new venture in early 2016 and developed the initial growth strategy for the organization. Prior to forming illuma Care Connections, Stephen was the founder, COO and CCO of SoloHealth, a national healthcare kiosk company. He was part of the founding team where his NIH grant helped catalyze the business and built a network that offered biometric screenings to over 40 million Americans each year. Stephen helped create SoloHealth after a successful career at Novartis leading global new product development and launching many medical devices in the eye care space. He has an undergraduate degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and MBA from Georgia State University.

Eric Donnenfeld, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Eric D. Donnenfeld, MD, is an internationally recognized Ophthalmologist and pioneer in refractive, cornea and cataract surgery and one of the leading refractive and cataract surgeons in the United States. He is the former
2013-2014 President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). Dr. Donnenfeld is the Chief Medical Editor of EyeWorld, the official publication of the ASCRS. Dr. Donnenfeld has designed and patented six instruments for refractive surgery use. He has authored more than 190 papers on cornea, external disease, cataract and refractive surgery, 500 scientific articles, and 40 books and book chapters on a range of subjects pertaining to corneal transplants, cataract care and laser vision correction. Dr. Donnenfeld is on the editorial board of nine journals and has participated in over 40 FDA studies. He is one of the first 5 people in the world to perform both laser vision correction and laser cataract surgery. Dr. Donnenfeld is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has received its Honor Award, Senior Honor Award, Life Achievement Honor Award and Secretariat Award. The Journal Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today has named Dr. Donnenfeld as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Ophthalmologists in the United States.
Vice President of Sales
Steve Brightwell is the Vice President of Sales for illuma Care Connections where he leads the strategic direction for Sales, Client Management and Retention, Marketing, and Provider Contracting. Steve brings more than 20 years of sales leadership experience in the high-tech and health care industry. His comprehensive experience, paired with his consultative approach, has helped Steve build deep and trusted relationships with health care professionals throughout the country and across the continuum of care.
Prior to joining illuma, Steve served as Vice President of Sales for SPH Analytics, where he nurtured key relationships and strategic partnerships while successfully leading the sales team responsible for achieving new business growth and client retention for the U.S. Payer market. Steve has also worked with several top national health plans and employers, providing consultation and guidance, while at William M. Mercer Consulting. In his role as Director of Account Management for Kaiser Permanente, Steve led a team of sales executives responsible for sales outreach, business development, and revenue growth.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
