Stephen Kendig is the President, Chief Executive Officer and board member of illuma Care Connections. As head of the management team, Stephen leads the creation of the company’s culture, corporate strategy, investor relationships and drives strategic partnerships. Stephen acquired the technology and IP from a public company, and ensured proper capitalization the new venture in early 2016. Prior to forming illuma Care Connections, Stephen was the COO and CCO of SoloHealth, a national healthcare kiosk company. Stephen was part of the founding team where his NIH grant helped catalyze the business. Stephen helped form SoloHealth after a successful career at Novartis (now Alcon) leading global new product development and launching many medical devices in the eye care space. He has an undergraduate degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and MBA from Georgia State University.
Stephen is an active runner, golfer, Yellow Jacket Fan and father of three.

Chief Operating Officer
Debbie Vereb, COO, is responsible for leading the day-to-day business and operations focusing on strategic leadership, operational efficiency, and cohesive processes for long-term profitability and growth.
Before joining Illuma Care Connections, Debbie was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at The Myers Group, a healthcare engagement and analytics firm, where she led the company in achieving year over year double-digit growth for more than 10 years, the acquisition of more than 30% market share, and over 95% year over year client retention and satisfaction.
Debbie has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience. She has remained in the forefront of healthcare’s complex regulations and advancing methodologies. Debbie’s expertise spans healthcare technology, patient experience, clinical analytics, population health, CMS and NCQA regulations. Throughout her career, Debbie has built a reputation for cultivating exceptional employee relationships and a positive corporate culture. She has a passion for excellence and is driven by an intense client focus which has resulted in exponential revenue growth and expanded market shares.
Debbie received her education at Kennesaw State College. She is a member of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Atlanta Chapter (HBA) and the Women Business Leaders of the US Healthcare Foundation (WBL). Debbie has been honored with the Atlanta Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association LEAD award and was also awarded the 2017 Business Woman in Excellence by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
Chief Medical Officer
Eric D. Donnenfeld, MD, is an internationally recognized Ophthalmologist and pioneer in refractive, cornea and cataract surgery and one of the leading refractive and cataract surgeons in the United States. He is the former
2013-2014 President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). Dr. Donnenfeld is the Chief Medical Editor of EyeWorld, the official publication of the ASCRS. Dr. Donnenfeld has designed and patented six instruments for refractive surgery use. He has authored more than 190 papers on cornea, external disease, cataract and refractive surgery, 500 scientific articles, and 40 books and book chapters on a range of subjects pertaining to corneal transplants, cataract care and laser vision correction. Dr. Donnenfeld is on the editorial board of nine journals and has participated in over 40 FDA studies. He is one of the first 5 people in the world to perform both laser vision correction and laser cataract surgery. Dr. Donnenfeld is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has received its Honor Award, Senior Honor Award, Life Achievement Honor Award and Secretariat Award. The Journal Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today has named Dr. Donnenfeld as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Ophthalmologists in the United States.
Director of Provider Sales & Services
Crea leads the Provider organization at illuma. Her responsibilities include overseeing the sales team and our recruitment efforts, in addition to ensuring our specialty provider networks are built across the nation. Crea also oversees the implementation, onboarding and support of illuma Practices. Prior to working at illuma Care Connections, Crea spent several years traveling the country for a national non-profit organization where she focused on leadership development, recruitment and retention. She graduated from the University of Tennessee. Crea likes to travel, volunteer and spend time with her labrador retriever, Buckley, outside of work!
VP of Solution Development
Josh serves as Vice President of illuma Care Connections, responsible for driving revenue generation and business development. This includes managing and building key relationships with national and local health plans. Josh has spent his entire career in the healthcare industry with a focus on care management quality improvement by leveraging innovative technology. Having previously held executive positions with Health Dialog and Eliza Corp, Josh was also instrumental in driving the early adoption of electronic health records through a partnership with SOAPware, and supported early stage start-ups like QV Systems and MedHelp in a consultative role. Josh is a former D-1 collegiate athlete who enjoys reading, outdoor activities, exercise and spending time with his English Bulldog, Porkchop.

VP of Sales
Steve Brightwell has worked in healthcare for over 20 years. His experience, pared with his consultative approach, has allowed him to build deep and trusted relationships with payers and other health care professionals across the country. As Director of Account Management, Steve led a team of sales executives at Kaiser Permanente. He then moved into a Consultant role at William M. Mercer Consulting working with several national health plans. Most recently, Steve served as Vice President of Sales at SPH Analytics, leading a team responsible for new business growth and client retention for the U.S. Payer market. In his new role at Illuma, Mr. Brightwell will help us achieve unprecedented new business growth and will manage the relationship of our largest client, Anthem.
